This Is What A Kiwi Looks Like When Pregnant.

It’s the bird that lays the largest eggs in relation to its body size. Their eggs can be up to 20% of their body weight. This is the equivalent of a 130 pound woman giving birth to a 26 pound baby!

And (horrifyingly) a female kiwi can lay up to 100 eggs in her lifetime.

The birds are about the same size as chickens, but scientists believe that the kiwi was once much larger and, while the bird shrank over time, its egg did not (it’s believed that they used to be 1.5 meters / 4.9 feet tall).

Tokyo Tower Gigapixel Panorama

"This is a 150-gigapixel image shot from the top of the Tokyo Tower."

"This image was shot with a Canon 7D digital SLR camera, with a 400mm telephoto lens. The camera was mounted on a special "gigapixel robot" called the Clauss Rodeon. This programmable robot allowed the camera to move and shoot very quickly, so that it was possible to shoot more than one photo every second."
